The British government is prepared to move forward with utilizing the entire amount of seized Russian holdings to support the Ukrainian war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the UK, France, and Germany emphasized that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to come to the table.

They clarified that the initiative would be carried out in tight collaboration with the US.

British restrictions have immobilized over £25bn of Russian resources since the Russian government launched its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. But, up to this point, resources provided to Ukraine using Russia's holdings had exclusively been sourced from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir assured President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their aim to push forward toward utilizing the complete amount of the seized Russian sovereign funds to conclude the conflict.

He noted that further sanctions soon would apply more pressure on Russia.

This announcement follows European Union representatives met in the Danish capital last week to consider utilizing frozen Russian funds for a €140bn credit to Ukraine.

In the previous month, President Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to seize or employ immobilized Russia's holdings, as reported by news outlets.

The value of immobilized Russia's funds in the EU is assessed to be almost €211bn.

The Russian government executed extensive aerial attacks all over the Ukrainian territory on recently, resulting in electricity outages in many areas of the capital city, Kyiv, and several other zones.
