Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the United States has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

It said wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
